چکیده

volume is related to the surface area of contact between electrode tip and endocardium and that voltage-directed CTI ablation is an effective technique. Limited power delivery from using temperature control mode in the mini-electrode arm likely resulted from the location of the tip temperature sensor in this catheter. This, we believe, played a significant role in the less favourable outcome noted with this catheter. Caldwell et al. propose yet another possible mechanism whereby the contact area between ablative tip and tissue is inadvertently minimized as the operator attempts to optimize signal on the mini-electrode catheter as they nicely demonstrate in the attached figure. We thank the authors for their unique insight.

Junctional rhythm associated with ventriculoatrial block during slow pathway ablation in atypical atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia.

AIMS We assessed responses to slow pathway ablation with respect to the appearance of ventriculoatrial (VA) block during junctional rhythm in both typical and atypical types of atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia (AVNRT). METHODS AND RESULTS The 31 subjects included 16 patients with slow-fast type of typical AVNRT and 15 patients with atypical AVNRT (9 patients with fast-slow type a...

Classification of electrophysiological types of atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia: a reappraisal.

Sequence of retrograde atrial activation is not a reliable criterion for the classification of atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia (AVNRT) into typical and atypical types. The conventional concept of a lower common pathway is not supported by current evidence and does not represent a reliable or reproducible criterion. The distinction between 'fast-slow' and 'slow-slow' forms is not u...

Supraventricular tachycardia. ECG diagnosis and anatomy.

This paper reviews the anatomical substrates responsible for the induction and maintenance of supraventricular tachycardia and discusses the ECG findings associated with these tachycardias. The normal anatomy of the supraventricular conducting system, particularly within the atria, is complex with conduction proceeding along preferential pathway, which are in turn determined in part by the anis...

Limitation of tachycardia zone resulting from longitudinal dissociation of the atrioventricular node in concealed pre-excitation.

Two cases with a concealed left-sided accessory atrioventricular bypass tract are described. In both, functional longitudinal dissociation of the atrioventricular node narrowed the range of atrial premature beat coupling intervals which could initiate re-entry using the accessory pathway. In case 1 early premature atrial beats were followed by an atrioventricular nodal re-entrant echo. The atri...

Coexistent Types of Atrioventricular Nodal Re-Entrant Tachycardia

T he mechanism of atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachy-cardia (AVNRT) remains elusive. Both anatomic and functional models have been proposed. There has been elec-trophysiological evidence that the right and left inferior extensions of the human AV node and the atrionodal inputs they facilitate, which have been identified histologically, might provide the anatomic substrate for the slow path...
